Business Plan: Free Technology Training Classes for Underserved Communities

Executive Summary: OverUnder is a social enterprise dedicated to providing free technology training classes to underserved communities in the United States and Western Africa. Our mission is to offer short-cycle, 4-week global certifications in CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and Project Management+ to empower individuals to enter the technology industry quickly without the financial burden of a 4-year degree or student loans. Additionally, our program includes soft skills training to ensure trainees possess the necessary business etiquette and virtual meeting skills. After certification, OverUnder will facilitate internships with public and private companies, enabling students to gain practical experience and enhance their resumes.

Target Market: Our target market comprises underserved inner city communities and rural areas that face challenges such as violence and substance abuse. By providing free classes, we aim to break down the financial barrier and offer a viable alternative for income generation.

Benefits for the United States Target:

Crime Reduction: By offering alternative opportunities for earning income, our program can contribute to reducing crime rates among young individuals.

Economic Development: Infusing positive financial resources into neighborhoods will aid in the overall development of communities.

Mitigating “Brain Drain”: By providing valuable training and career prospects, we aim to slow down the migration of talent to other regions.

Positive Media Coverage: Our program can bring positive attention and media coverage to areas that typically receive negative portrayal.

Inspiring Career Choices: By exposing young people to the technology field, we aim to inspire them to consider pursuing careers they might not have previously considered.

Program Implementation: OverUnder will initially launch training classes in Philadelphia, Monroe County (Kentucky), Atlanta (GA), Philadelphia (MS), and Baltimore (MD). We will collaborate with local, state, and federal government entities to secure grants and donated class spaces. Additionally, we will seek grants from private entities to support our operations.

OverUnder Africa: OverUnder also operates training classes in Accra, Ghana, for adult education, offering courses in A+, Network+, and Security+. We have partnered with St Edward’s Secondary School in Freetown, Sierra Leone, to provide A+, Network+, Project+, and Pen+ classes during the school day, preparing students for the global job market.

Benefits of OverUnder Africa:

Talent Utilization: OverUnder will assist technology professionals in finding opportunities with global companies, enabling them to apply their skills effectively.

Reducing “Brain Drain”: By providing real opportunities locally, we aim to mitigate the need for talented individuals to seek opportunities outside their home countries.

Community Wealth Building: By equipping individuals with in-demand skills, we contribute to building wealth within their communities.

Empowering Governance: Higher incomes translate to greater influence in local governance and decision-making processes.

Transformative Impact: OverUnder’s program brings real change to the lives and legacies of individuals and communities that have faced historical challenges.

This is a summary of the complete training program we are aiming for. If the Adult Education program is done correctly it will positively impact the youth education program at St Edward’s Secondary School. When we show what can be done at St Edward’s we will garner significant financial support from global agencies who are desperately looking for real programs that solve problems. Everyone I’m communicating with on here will feel the benefits of our success.
